NAIMAH, known globally by her one name moniker, is an American Children’s Book Author, Life Coach, Speaker,  and Actress raised in Schenectady, N.Y. 

After attending school in Schenectady she relocated to Los Angeles, Ca. A Traphagen School of Fashion Alumna, and former Account Executive for Fashion Fair Cosmetics, Naimah is the co-author of the children’s book The Wonderful You, which she wrote with her Husband Roderick Q. Jones under his pen name “Dr. Q.”  She is also the founder of Naimah Northstar Productions, NaimahNorthstar.COM, and The Naimah Northstar “Plug Into The Wonderful You” podcast. Her work is lauded by entertainment industry professionals, many of whom are her clients. Always one for setting and exceeding goals - on March 2, 1997 Naimah successfully completed the LA Marathon. The event was sponsored by Honda that year.

Naimah was 6 months old, when her family relocated to Schenectady, N.Y. from Henderson, N.C. where she was born. Her father was a Baptist minister, her mother 

was a stay at home mom. After high school, Naimah became an Alumna of The Traphagen School of Fashion, where she earned her certification in the 1970’s. Traphagen - long held as a juggernaut of the fashion industry is known for its

famous Alumni like Geoffrey Beene, Anne Klein, and numerous others.

Following her relocation from Schenectady, N.Y. - Naimah’s first job in Los Angeles, Ca. was working for actress, and cosmetics company legend Barbara Walden’s Barbara Walden Cosmetics.  In November 1986, Naimah became an Account Executive for Chicago based Fashion Fair cosmetics, a global brand created by Johnson Publishing Company Founder John H. Johnson. While employed at the flagship company, Naimah worked closely with her mentor Mr. Johnson, and appeared in Ebony Magazine’s November 1992 Special 50th Year Edition, Her motivational management style was credited with increasing the company’s revenues from $1.1M to $2.6M in retail sales in the Los Angeles, CA store she managed. Naimah ended her employment at Fashion Fair in 1993 to launch Naimah Inc., now Delaware based Naimah Northstar LLC, which serves as the parent company to her brands Naimah Northstar Productions, and the Naimah Northstar “Plug Into The Wonderful You” podcast, which airs on YouTube.

Naimah published children’s book The Wonderful You in 2014 with Authorhouse. The self-improvement program Simple Path to Peace, Self-Compassion & Love, which began in 2014 is published by Naimah Northstar Productions as is Naimah’s podcast, which debuted in 2016.

Naimah was one of the women Author Linda Hollander highlighted in her book Bags to Riches: 7 Success Secrets for Women in Business, in September 2004.  On January 1, 1997 Kimberley Stansell featured Naimah in her book “Bootstrapper’s Success Secrets.” The book is a how-to guide for new businesses to use when starting a company using creative financing.  In March 2016 Jennifer Bihm, a Staff Writer for the oldest African American owned newspaper in the West The Los Angeles Sentinel wrote a feature story about Naimah titled, “Wonderful You Teaches Self Love, and Compassion.”   Naimah has also appeared in the magazines Woman's Day, Cash Flow, and Home Computing Magazine

Starting in the early 1990’s Naimah appeared on the now defunct KTLA show Making It. On March 27th, 2009, Mississippi State Representative Omeria Scott penned a letter to the Mississippi School District advocating that a portion of the school budget be utilized to purchase The Wonderful You, so it could be introduced to all elementary students at the youngest age possible to assist with their emotional growth. Comedic actress, and eight-time NAACP Award winner Marla Gibbs famous for playing the maid “Florence” on the hit show The Jeffersons also released a passionate letter in September 2014, touting the benefits The Wonderful You would have on children’s emotional well-being, and self-esteem. San Gabriel based newspaper, MidValley News wrote a feature story on Naimah, Dr. Q and The Wonderful You in September 2010 when they were invited to give a presentation for students at Maxim Elementary. Sins of the Father (July 2019) Movie Director Jamal Hill who got his start working on movies like Will Smith’s I Am Legend (July 2008), and Hancock (December 2007) released a testimonial video in March 2018 crediting Naimah for the effect her coaching has had on his career.

Naimah was honored along with 7 other women as “An Amazing Angel in Red” at the 7th Annual Holiday Magic Luncheon in Torrance, CA in December 2014. The award was given by the Mayor. Legendary cosmetics company founder Barbara Walden, Naimah’s first employer in Los Angeles was in attendance. July 27th, 2015 Mayor Gary R. McCarthy, and the City Council of Schenectady, New York signed a resolution recognizing Naimah’s accomplishments as a nationally known Inspirational Speaker. August 8th, 2015 the city held a “Read Out Loud” event at Proctor’s Theater to honor The Wonderful You, Naimah and her co-author husband, Roderick “Dr. Q" Jones.

Naimah is married to Roderick Q. Jones. They have three daughters.
